Walled Garden Nomination 2012
WALLED GARDEN NOMINATED FOR BEST RESTAURANT IN THE UK
The Walled Garden Bistro Wine Bar, at Barton Grange Hotel, has been recognised as one of the best restaurants in the UK at the Hi-Life Dining Awards 2012.
Last year the bistro won Best North West Restaurant, topping that this year by being one of five nominations for Best Overall Restaurant. The nominations were announced prior to the glitzy award ceremony held earlier this month at the Midland Hotel in Manchester, and hosted by TV presenter and journalist Paul Ross.
The Walled Garden was chosen by the 200,000 Hi-Life Dining Club members who singled out the bistro wine bar from 3,500 other restaurants.
Laura James, restaurant manager at the Walled Garden said the team was delighted to be nominated for the prestigious award by the dining public.
"We were up against some superb restaurants and it shows all our hard work to ensure we provide the right experience for our diner is really paying dividends," she said.
"Last year we were delighted to win the award for the Best North West Restaurant and to be short-listed for the Best Overall Restaurant in the UK is fantastic.
"After the re-launch of the restaurant a few years ago, the Walled Garden has gone from strength-to-strength and we work extremely hard to provide delicious food in a contemporary stylish setting whilst retaining the cosy, welcoming atmosphere we are known for."
Ian Topping, managing director of Barton Grange, added: "I'm really pleased for the restaurant staff because these nominations are based on the votes of real customers. We understand that there were 200,000 voters, so to be nominated for the Best Restaurant in the UK is a great achievement."
Lisa Lund, Hi-Life's commercial director, commented: "The awards were a fantastic showcase of the very best in dining excellence and congratulations to all our winners and short-listed entries. The calibre of participants this year has been exceptionally high."
Walled Garden Best Restaurant Award
The Walled Garden Bistro Wine Bar, at Barton Grange Hotel, has been named the best restaurant in the North West at the Hi-Life Dining Awards 2011.
The awards, held at the Hilton in Manchester, are considered to be the leading food and drink awards in the industry, with nominees and winners voted for by members of the Hi-Life Dining Club.
The glittering ceremony, presented by Gordon Burns from BBC North West Tonight, recognised eleven winners and Walled Garden restaurant manager, Laura James, and head chef, Nick Hands, proudly received the accolade.
Ian Topping, managing director of Barton Grange, said: "I'm particularly pleased for Laura and Nick and their staff because this award is based on the votes of real customers. We understand that there were 100,000 voters, so to have won 'Best Restaurant in the North West' is a great achievement.
"We've recently invested a significant sum in the Walled Garden to provide a more contemporary and stylish setting whilst retaining the cosy, welcoming atmosphere we are known for. We've also upgraded our daily menu which offers simple, perfectly cooked dishes using the best, local and seasonal ingredients.
"As wine lists can often be formal and confusing, we've included some handy tips to help our customers find something they like, at a price that is right for them. It's proving to be the perfect recipe for our customers who have voted for us."
The Walled Garden Bistro Wine Bar fought off tough competition from other high-quality venues in the region, including The Villa in Wrea Green. Lisa Lund, Hi-Life's commercial director, commented: "The calibre of entries this year has been exceptionally high with lots of new restaurant members of Hi-Life taking part.
"I would like to congratulate all winners and thank everyone for making this year's Hi-Life Dining Awards such a truly fantastic event."
